Artist Statement

Joe thinks one of his favorite quotes may sum up how he feels about hid photography and life in general:

IF YOU KEEP YOUR HEAD UP, AND YOUR HEART OPEN AS YOU WALK THROUGH LIFE, THERE IS A GIFT WAITING FOR YOU AT THE CORNER OF EVERY STREET – ÉDOUARD BOUBAT.

His photographic work is a journey of self-discovery and self-expression. It is the way by which he chooses to get in touch with the people, things, and world around him. Joe is fascinated by exploring the world, seeing the world through his eyes, different countries, music festivals, life and joy. His experiences are both a source of pain and joy – his source of seeing and inspiration. They are what he snap into when creating his photography.

Travel

Joe’s photographs are meant to be a bridge between cultures and to express the universal human spirit. On a more personal level, they are his spiritual journey. A journey that opens the door into many diverse cultures.
He is driven by his curiosity, sense of adventure and desire to explore unknown corners of the world. He was a traveler long before he was a photographer. Discovering the world has been a lifelong personal journey of soul-searching and self-discovery.
Joe’s camera and his curiosity have led him off the beaten path. The journey is often more important than the resulting images to him. His lens has allowed him to look inside the lives of others and blur the differences and connect to the people. The person Joe is today reflects his experiences in the places he has traveled and the people he has met along his way.

Music

Music has always been a large part of his life. It’s spirituality and power has had a serious influence in it. He has tried many types of photography, the musical experience is what he is currently up to. Music and Art in general, makes the good times more fun and the difficult times easier. His artwork includes musicians from many genres including Rock, Jazz, Blues, Country and Metal. His goal when shooting a band or musician is to try and capture the musician’s essence, in an artistic manner. He also endeavors to catch the moment of a particular show, if that is possible, succeeding sometimes and failing others.

His work, whether it be music, portraits, travel is most successful when it speaks to celebrating the richness of life.

He is a traveler, a seeker and a gatherer of moments – the soul of each moment.

He photographs because he cannot do otherwise.
